Research Experience

  • Thesis work entitled “Frequency Distribution and Antibiotic Resistance Pattern of Different Enteric Pathogens Isolated from Diarrheal Patients in Bangladesh” for Master’s degree in International Center for Diarrheal Disease Research (icddr,b) from April 2014 to June 2015. This project was funded by Government of People’s Republic of Bangladesh. The aim of the project was to determine the prevalence of major enteric pathogens mainly Vibrio cholerae, enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC), Salmonella species and Shigella species among diarrheal patients using multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR), serotyping and biochemical methods. The current antibiotic resistance pattern of these organisms was also analyzed that reveals which antibiotics we can omit from the prescribed drug list. The exclusivity of this study is that it was the first study carried out for samples from the whole country. This study will also help in vaccine designing in future.
