RESEARCH INTEREST

As a Geographer and Faculty Member at the Department of Geography and Environment of the University of Dhaka, I am interested to do research in the following areas:

Climate Variability and Risk Management, Hazards Risk and Emergency Management, Coupled Human-Environment System, Biodiversity and Conservation, Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM), Geospatial Sciences & Technology and its Application.

PREVIOUS RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

Before joining at the Department of Geography and Environment of Dhaka University, I worked as an Associate Research Coordinator in the Asiatic Society of Bnagladesh (a renowned and leading research organization in Bangladesh) in its Celebration of 400 Years of Capital Dhaka Programme, conducted by the leading social researcher and historian of the country Dr. Sharif uddin Ahmed (former Professor of the Dept. of History of Dhaka University and currently Professor and Chair of the Dept. of History and Philosophy, North South University, Dhaka). I worked for this position almost two years (February 2009 to January 2011) and have learned a lot about qualitative research methods and techniques. I also assisted honourable Editors of different books in editing and so on. Besides, I gained experience interacting with distinguished scholars, scientists, government officials, and electronic and print media. This Research Programme published 20 edited research books to uphold the history, heritage, society, culture, economics, administration, and environment as well as various issues of urban life of Dhaka as the Capital City of Bangladesh over the last 400 Years (1608/1610-2010).
