University of Adelaide, South Australia (12-16 December,

(iii)  Attended the conferences of the Bangladesh Association for Advancement of Science (in 1988, 1992, 1996)

 

(vi) Conducted special course on Advanced Sedimentology, as guest speaker, at Bangladesh Petroleum Institute (in

1985, ‟86, ‟88, 92, ‟97).

 

(v) Carried out research on paleoenvironmental analysis of the Neogene succession in the Fenchuganj 2, Beani Bazar 1X and 2 wells, Sylhet Trough (in 1992-93).

 

(vi) Carried out research on paleoenvironmental analysis of the Neogene succession in the Kailash Tila 2, Rashidpur 2 and Bakhrabad wells, Sylhet Trough (in 1993-95).

 

(vii) Carried out research project on sedimentology and hydrogeology of arsenic contaminated aquifers in the Bengal delta (in 1997-98).

9. Summary of Professional

Experience                       : (I) Worked as a geologist at Bangladesh Atomic Energy

Commission from September 1978 until March 1980.

 

(ii) Worked as research assistant at the Geology Department, Australian National University from October 1983 until April

1984.

 

(iii)  Assistant Professor, Department of Geology, University of

Dhaka, from October 1984 until February, 1992.

 

(iv) Associate Professor, Department of Geology, University of

Dhaka, from February, 1992 until April 1997.

 

(v) Professor, Department of Geology, University of Dhaka, from

April 1997 till date.

 

(vi) Worked as research consultant with the JMBA in the Hard survey project (in 1988-89).

 

(vii) Was associated with RCC in the various EIAs for Cairn

Energy and Occidental Bangladesh.

 

(viii) Edited a Special Issue of „Sedimentary Geology‟ (published by Elsevier Science, Amsterdam) on “the Sedimentary geology of the Bengal Bassin, Bangladesh” in 2003.

 

(ix) Conduct courses on Sedimentology/Stratigraphy and Geology of Bengal Basin in Jahangirnagar University as part-time visiting Professor.

 

(x) Conduct course on Geological Oceanography at the Dept. of

Oceanography, Dhaka University as part-time Professor.
