Research Interests

 

[1]Hydrogeology, Environmental Geology, Disaster Management and DRR, Groundwater Investigation and Model, Hydro Chemistry, IWRM, Groundwater-Surface Water Interaction, Climate Change, Water-Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)

[2]Qualitative and quantitative research, study and investigation for the optimum utilization of water resources and preparation of hydrogeological, geochemical, geotechnical and sedimentological maps, reports and numerical models.

[3]Supervise and provide technical guidance of field groundwater data collection and ensure quality control. Collection of groundwater and sediment samples for the determination of the chemical composition of water and sediment to evaluate sedimentological and hydro-geochemical processes including arsenic source detection and environmental studies.

[4]Monitoring exploratory drilling components for geologic characterization of Quaternary aquifers, describing the depositional setting and detecting lateral and vertical extent of aquifers.

[5]Design, installation and conducting aquifer pumping tests and slug tests in order to assess physical and hydraulic properties of aquifer sediments and evaluate hydraulic connectivity between aquifer units.

[6]Conducting study and research related to development and governance of water resources and assess their socio-economic and environmental impacts.

[7]Prepare guideline to standardize and improving hydrogeological data (groundwater table, aquifer test, water quality, exploratory boring log) collection techniques.

[8]Characterization of each aquifer units to determine hydraulic and physical properties of aquifer sediments for resource assessment by conducting 20 aquifer pump tests and 100 slug tests.

[9]Analysis and assessment of both groundwater and surface water quality and mapping depth wise distribution of different chemical parameters down to the depth of 350m highlighting salinity, arsenic etc. by collecting water samples from monitoring wells and coastal rivers.

[10]Identification of fresh and safe water zone for drinking purpose in the coastal region in Bangladesh.

[11]Study and investigate effects of climate change (to include sea level rise, increased storm surges, changes in recharge) on the pattern of groundwater hydrology and salinedistribution in the coastal region (i.e. changes in hydraulic head distribution, salinity distribution changes).

[12]Assessment of the combined effects of human impacts and climate change on the pattern of groundwater hydrology and saline distribution (to include increased pumping for domestic, industrial, and agriculture supplies).

[13]Simulation of models to assess present trend of coastal water resources, salinity distribution and predict future scenario under different hydrogeological and development conditions as well as anticipated impact of climate changes.
