Ms.Dilara Zahid currently accorded her Ph.D degree on ‘Gender Specific Adaptation Strategies and Monga: Evidence of a Social Disaster in Northern Bangladesh’ under Sociology Department, University of Dhaka. She received her MSS in Sociology from University of Dhaka. Her MSS dissertation was ‘Globalization, Modernity and the pattern of Socialization in urban Bangladesh; A study of Uttara, Gulshan and Dhanmondi’. Dilara also completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Disaster Management (PGDDM) from University of Dhaka. She completed her Higher Secondary Certificate from Viqarunnisa Noon College and Secondary School Certificate from Dhanmondi Government Girls` High School under Humanitarian Group, Dhaka Board, Bangladesh. Throughout her academic life she got an excellent performance and results . So far four articles have been published in renowned journals and some have been accepted. Her first book ‘THE SIGHT OF VULNERABILITY: EVIDENCE FROM MONGA DISASTER IN NORTHERN BANGLADESH’ is going to be published within a short time.
Ms. Dilara also worked as consultant and assistant consultant in different projects. Among them, Private sector’s Engagement in Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change Adaptation 2016 by Asia Foundation, Baseline study of School Based Disaster Risk Reduction (SBDRR) 2015 by International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), ‘Field Data Collection to assess the level of community and household level disaster preparedness and the effect of LDRRF interventions project 2013’ by CDMP and IDMVS, DU, Institutional Responses of Child Protection in Emergencies and Evaluation of Community People: A Case of Aila Affected Area, Dacope Upazila, Bangladesh 2014 –UGC funded , Government of Bangladesh, ‘Mapping Gender and DRR Interventions in Bangladesh’(SDC, 2011), ‘Joint programme to address Violence Against Women’( 2011, UNFPA), ‘National Climate Change and Gender Action Plan in Bangladesh’ which is a part of the Global Gender and Climate Alliance (IUCN and Ministry of Environment and Forests, GoB, 2013),‘Field Data Collection to assess the level of community and household level disaster preparedness and the effect of LDRRF interventions project 2013’ (CDMP and IDMVS,DU), ‘Strengthening Local Disaster Management Practices Through GO-NGO Partnership ( UNDP and BDPC ,2013),Short term compensation giving event of Rana Plaza workers (PRIMARK and IDMVS, 2013) are remarkable.
Dilara develops her skills in module development and providing training for different government and nongovernment organizations. She works as a training facilitator in International Citizen Services Volunteer Training Program, VSOB Since 2011 to 2014, ToT Training Module Development and Training for the Teacher`s Training College and Higher Secondary level teachers under Department of Education, GoB, School Safety Training Programme with the collaboration of Ministry of Education, GoB and Safe the Children, Training for MOEF (Ministry of Environment and Forest) and their agent senior, mid-level staff under FAO, UN, TOT provider under the Skills for Employment Investment Program-SEIP organized by BKMEA in collaboration with Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Ministry of Finance, GoB, Management Social Service Training (MSST) on Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) under CSPB Project of the Department of Social Services etc.
