Research Experience

PhD:

Drs. Richard Brown and Ellen Poliakoff of the University of Manchester supervised my PhD works, which involved six laboratory experiments investigating the effects of operant conditioning on somatosensory false alarms, sequential relationship between somatosensory experiences, hearing of illusory voices, and cross-modal perception.

Honours project and Master’s thesis:

My honours project and master’s thesis investigated the relationships of personality and demographic variables with subjective well-being. Prof. Q S M Ilyas of the Department of Psychology, University of Dhaka supervised these studies.

Ongoing research projects:

1. Development and validation of a continuous somatosensory signal detection task (to produce and study illusory perceptual experiences in the laboratory which are analogous to medically unexplained symptoms).

2. Development and validation of a voice discrimination task (to study psychosis in healthy as well as in clinical participants).

3. Investigating the effects of illness memory activation on somatic symptoms.
