1997- to date: Activism in Civil Society with Blue Group (Pro-Awami League Teachers   Community), University of Dhaka

2007-2008: Led the civil society movement and black flag hoisted under my leadership on the roof of Arts Building for the release of teachers and key democratic leaders of the country including Sheikh Hasina and Begum Khaleda Zia.

1990- Active organizer and student leader of the Movement for Restoration of Democracy in Bangladesh that ousted the military dictatorship of General Ershad. Was severely injured by bullets as massive police firing took place while led the protest marches.

Dr.Abul.Kashem.Mohammad Jamal Uddin is a Professor of Sociology at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He has completed his Bachelor and Masters in Sociology from the University of Dhaka in the beginning of 1990s and later joined the Department as a Lecturer in 1997. He has completed his PhD in Sociology and Social Policy from the University of Leeds, Great Britain in 2006. His field of interest covers the issues related to political sociology like democracy, good governance, civil society, citizen and rights, urban development and slums, protest and social movements etc. He has been a critical researcher on democratic governance, poverty and social protection, peace and conflict management, women and healthcare issues, metabolism of Bangladeshi democracy interplay with political parties and electoral process, climate change and disaster management etc. He has sound knowledge in both of the qualitative and quantitative methods. He has a number of intellectually acclaimed research articles on the above issues in academia journals. He has been embarked on career engagement in research and development at national and international level.
