6th Asian CBT Conference begins at DU

A two-day long 6th  Asian Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) Conference has begun on February 10, 2018 at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban Auditorium of Dhaka University (DU). The Department of Clinical Psychology of DU has organized this conference in cooperation with Bangladesh Clinical Psychology Society, Nasirullah Psychotherapy Unit and ACBTA. The theme of this conference is “Mental Health Gap in Asian Countries: Scope of CBT”.

Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman presided over the inaugural function while Health & Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim MP addressed it as the chief guest. Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Imdadul Hoque , President of Asian Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) Prof. Jung Hye Kwon, Chairman of  the Department of Clinical Psychology of DU Dr. M. Kamruzzaman Mozumder, Chairman of Conference  Organizing Committee Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mahmudur Rahman, Program Director of Nasirullah Psychotherapy Unit Kamal U A Chowdhury and some other foreign delegates addressed it.

Health & Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim MP stressed the need for development of clinical psychology education in the country to reduce mental health related problems. The government of Bangladesh will formulate a new policy soon to develop mental health sector, he mentioned. 

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman called upon the researchers, academicians and professionals to work together to develop mental health services for general people.

It may be mentioned that academicians, researchers, clinical psychologists and medical professionals from home and abroad are participating in the conference.
